- Four different players scored for Skellefteå
- Fehérvár fall to 0-5 on the season
- The Swedes continue success on home ice
Skellefteå AIK secured their third win of the season and second on home ice, defeating Fehérvár AV19 by a final of 4-2. Four different players scored for the Swedes as they secured three more points to give them ten on the season.
Frans Haara whistled one from distance to give Skellefteå a 1-0 lead. Marcus Eriksson won the face-off as Max Lindholm gained possession and passed it to the defenceman who drifted into an open lane and let it go past Dominik Horváth to open the scoring.
A powerplay finish by Jonathan Johnson extended the Swedes' lead at 12:19. Jonathan Pudas, who donned the Top Scorer sweater for this contest, retrieved the puck near the blueline before finding Johnson with a cross-ice pass that the 31-year-old one-timed into the back of the net.
But the Hungarians would answer late in the period when Bálint Magosi fired one from just inside the far circle that beat Love Härenstam to make it a one-goal game. The play developed when Cameron Gaunce pursued the puck into the Fehérvár zone before dishing it to Magosi who secured his first of the tournament.
Anton Heikkinen paid the price to restore his club's two-goal lead early in the middle frame. An Arvid Lundberg shot thrown towards the net hit Heikkinen as the puck popped up in the air and over the shoulder of Horváth as Skellefteå took a 3-1 advantage.
As play shifted to the third period, it was Fehérvár claiming that all-important next goal to cut the deficit to one goal. Chase Berger corralled the puck at the blueline before flinging a backhand feed to Trevor Cheek who skated between the hash marks before wristing it past Härenstam's glove.
A little over four minutes later, however, it was Skellefteå lighting the lamp again. This time, Zeb Lindgren made it a 4-2 game near the midway mark of the final frame.
For all their efforts, the Hungarians were unable to challenge the score, however, as the Swedes would go on to help their bid for the Playoffs adding another win to their campaign, while Fehérvár would fall to 0-5.
