Lennart Petrell’s goal gave IFK Helsinki a 4-3 overtime victory in Skellefteå AIK. That temporarily keept them alive in the race to advance to the Round of 16, but Bolzano's win saw then exit the competition.
Things looked grim for the team from the Finnish capital when Oscar Möller’s second of the game gave Skellefteå a 3-1 lead early in the third period. Markus Kankaanperä got one back for IFK, and then with their goalie out for a sixth attacker, Juhani Tyrväinen tied it with 1:12 to go.
In overtime, Teemu Eronen passed to Petrell, who beat Gustaf Lindvall from a sharp angle. It was Eronen’s third assist of the game.
