Tappara got out to an early lead as Sami Moilanen opened the scoring with less than five minutes played as a shot from the point bounced off his body and fell fortuitously to his stick, and he made no mistake with the shot. Asker responded 10 minutes later, first as Alex Lavoie walked the puck from the top of the circle before firing a quick shot over the shoulder of the goalie , and then less than 60 seconds later they grabbed another to make it 2-1 through Reid Petryk.
Coming out for the second period, Tappara wasted no time in levelling the score, as Anton Levtchi scored less than two minutes into the period on a breakaway, and then the hosts regained the lead a few minutes later as Asker goalie Henrik Fayen Vestavik made an initial save on the shot by Jere Rouhiainen but couldn’t stop from tapping in the rebound Otto Rauhala. Tappara extended their lead later in the period as Valtteri Kemiläinen fired a hard slapshot from the point past Vestavik to make it 4-2 on the powerplay.
