- Yunost eliminated after loss
- Four different goal-scorers
- Henrik Haukeland saves 96.30% of shots
The Malmö Redhawks were into the Round of 16 before their game finished thanks to TPS Turku's 3-1 win over Yunost Minsk of Belarus.
The visitors had to win in regulation to stand any chance of staying alive in the CHL, but were back foot from the off when Oskari Siiki put TPS ahead on 8:30 as the puck was eventually buried at the third attempt. Ilari Filppula doubled that lead just 27 seconds into the middle session with a superb backhanded effort to give Yunost a huge mountain to climb.
The team from Belarus did stage the beginning of a comeback, Mikhail Stefanovich with a fine wrist-shot at 33:26, but the visitors weren't able to ever get back level.
A late insurance goal from Zach Budish gave TPS the cushion to hold on to a win which was probably celebrated more in Sweden than by the already-eliminated Finns.
