- Big win ensures Lions' path into the Round of 16
- Bachofner hits two goals
- Capitals fall at the Group Stage again
A dominant ZSC Lions performance saw the Swiss side book their place in the Round of 16 in emphatic style. Only 2:15 was on the board when Marco Miranda put the Lions ahead, but the visitors would go in three up after 20 minutes thanks to Roman Červenka and Chris Baltisberger's efforts.
Vienna, who needed a win to have any chance of going through to the latter stages, pulled a goal back on 22 minutes through Peter Schneider, but the Lions hit back with two more goals before the period was out - Roman Wick just before the halfway mark, and then Jérôme Bachofner made it 5-1 with 34:15 gone.
The Capitals again pulled a goal back at the start of the final period through Kelsey Tessier, but Bachofner struck just over three minutes later to seal the 6-2 win.
