- Aeschlimann: 28 saves for Zug
- Hruška: goal for Brno
- Both teams advancing to Round of 16
In a game where both teams already knew their placement in Group D, EV Zug earned their fifth win of the Group Stage 2-1 over visiting Kometa Brno. The home team scored both of its goals in the first period, Brno got theirs in the first minute of the second, and both goalies were perfect after that – Zug’s Sandro Aeschlimann was especially strong, making 28 saves although his team was outshot 29-12 in the game.
Domenic Lammer opened the scoring in the sixth minute, finishing off a nice 3-on-2 rush, and then Dario Simion’s long shot beat Lukáš Dostál late in the period. Just 27 seconds into the second period, Kometa’s only goal came courtesy a breakaway by Jan Hruška, who went high glove side on Aeschlimann.
Both teams now advance to the Round of 16 – Zug as group winners and Brno as runners-up.
