- Another huge win for EV Zug
- Zug score five in the second period
- Anders Biel scores twice for SønderjyskE
After EV Zug stormed to a big 10-0 victory against SønderjyskE Vojens on game day two, the two met again in Switzerland, and while the game was largely controlled by Zug again, the score line was a lot less one sided.
It was a much better result on the scoreboard for SønderyjyskE, however the stats were still very tilted in favour of Zug.
Dario Simion opened the scoring for Zug just over five minutes in on the powerplay, but that was all that Zug could find in the first, a much better result for SønderjyskE who were 4-0 down at the same point in the first meeting. However, a lot of was because of the performance in net by Nicolaj Henriksen who stopped 17 of 18 shots.
It didn’t take long for Zug to find the net in the second, Livio Stadler with his first goal of the CHL season, jumping on a loose puck after a scramble in front, and shortly after Anton Lander made it 3-0 as his cross-crease attempt was deflected into the net by SønderjyskE defenceman Anton Öhman.
While it certainly looked risky that the floodgates would open again, SønderjyskE managed to stop that from happening this time - at least for now - and eventually they managed to pull one back from an unlikely angle as Shawn O’Donnell ripped one from the right boards, sneaking short side past Luca Hollenstein to make it a 3-1 score.
The joy of scoring would be short-lived though as just over a minute later, a turnover sent Zug through two against the goalie, and after some nice give and go play between Lino Martschini and Dario Allesnpach, Martschini put the final touch as the puck found the back of the net to re-open the three goal, and a quick goal to make it 5-1 followed from Christian Djoos shortly after, with the sixth coming before the period was out through Dario Simion’s second of the night.
The onslaught didn't end in the third, with Reto Suri stricking quickly on two occassions in the space of 32 seconds early on to make it an 8-1 lead.
There was a trade of goals midway through the period between both sides. Anders Biel added SønderjyskE's second goal, before Marco Müller made it nine for the hosts, and then Biel scored his second to make it 9-3, where the score would remain at the final buzzer.
