Ahead of the start of the upcoming Champions Hockey League season, we asked the Head Coaches of Red Bull Salzburg's six Regular Season opponents what their thoughts are on the Austrian team - here's what they had to say!
Kölner Haie Head Coach Thomas Berglund: “Red Bull Salzburg have been one of the defining teams in Austrian ice hockey for many years. The club boast extensive international experience, a strong organisational structure and a roster that regularly features top-tier players. Accordingly, right at the start of the CHL, we face a challenging task against an opponent that is competitively at the highest level.”
Bílí Tygři Liberec Head Coach Jiří Kudrna: “This is not an entirely unfamiliar opponent for us. We have played a few games against them in recent years. They are a quality team with high ambitions in the international ICE Hockey League, where they consistently achieve great results. Naturally, they also have plenty of CHL experience. We expect physical hockey full of individual battles, making it a great benchmark for us.”
Eisbären Berlin Head Coach Éric Dubois: “Salzburg are the flagship club of Austria. With Ingolstadt, I faced them in last year’s Round of 16. They were difficult games and that is exactly what I expect again. We are aware that they will be a tough opponent.“
Rögle Ängelholm Head Coach Dan Tangnes: “Salzburg consistently combine experienced players with outstanding young talent. They’ve built a strong track record in the CHL, so we know we’ll face another high-quality opponent.”
Växjö Lakers Head Coach Björn Hellkvist: "Red Bull Salzburg is a team we know well after meeting them several times in the CHL over the years. They play with great speed, high intensity and are very effective in applying pressure all over the ice. We know it takes a disciplined and mature performance over 60 minutes to give ourselves a chance to win. Those are exactly the kinds of games you want to play."
Skellefteå AIK Head Coach Daniel Hermansson: “Salzburg play fast and high-intensity hockey. It will be a high-tempo game where we need to be ready from the start.”
